What it is

Understanding dental implants.

A dental implant is a small, biocompatible titanium post placed into the jawbone to act as an artificial tooth root. Over a healing period it fuses with the bone (a process called osseointegration), creating a stable foundation for a crown, bridge or denture.

Because the implant replaces the root as well as the visible tooth, it helps preserve the surrounding bone and lets you eat, speak and smile with confidence — without relying on or altering the neighbouring teeth.

Who it's for

Is it right for you?

How it works

Your treatment journey.

01

Consultation & assessment

A full examination with 3D (CBCT) imaging to assess your bone and plan the ideal implant position.

02

Digital planning

Your case is planned on screen so the implant position is mapped precisely before treatment begins.

03

Implant placement

The implant is placed under local anaesthetic. A healing period allows it to integrate with the bone.

04

Restoration & aftercare

Once healed, your custom crown is fitted. We review your bite and show you how to care for it long term.

  • Long-lasting with good maintenance

What to consider

  • Treatment usually takes place over several months to allow healing
  • Some cases need bone grafting or a sinus lift first
  • Suitability depends on gum health, bone and general health
  • As with any minor surgery, there are risks we'll discuss fully
  • Smoking can slow healing and affect outcomes

FAQ

Common questions.

Will it hurt?

The procedure is carried out under local anaesthetic, so you should be comfortable throughout. Mild tenderness or swelling afterwards is normal and usually settles within a few days with simple pain relief.

How long do dental implants last?

With good oral hygiene and regular check-ups, implants can last many years. Longevity varies from person to person depending on gum health, bone and lifestyle.

How much do dental implants cost?

The cost depends on your individual case — the number of implants, whether any bone grafting is needed, and the type of restoration. After your assessment we provide a clear, itemised written quote before any treatment begins.

Am I too old for implants?

There's no upper age limit. What matters is your gum health, bone and general health, all of which we assess at your consultation.

What if I don't have enough bone?

Bone grafting or a sinus lift can often rebuild the area so an implant can be placed. We'll let you know if this applies to you after your 3D scan.
